THIÊN Y – HUẾ CITADEL

Flower House

Three levels, five bedrooms and a vast ground floor that follows the principle of the nhà sàn, opening the house to the land
The structure gently inclines toward arriving guests, sheltered Beneath a wooden roof with a stepped awning inspired by Ancient models Beyond a forged-iron gate unfolds a garden inspired by Cham art —  whose kingdom once reached its northern border near Huế  — Composed of sculpted stones, fountains, & antique statuary.
Inside, a monumental carved-stone chimney warms the short winter months.  Handmade lighting, fine leather seating, ancient artworks, and an interior well complete the ensemble. The pool is adorned with artists’ floral mosaics and includes massage jets as well as a children’s area
The floral element holds a particular place here. In the Western tradition, the flower is the only part of life untouched by original sin; In Huế, it is frequently associated with metamorphosisthe passage from vegetal to animal.  This theme recurs throughout the house. The four traditional flowers of Việt Nam are vividly carved into the ancient lim-wood gates by a prominent local master carver, overlooking the pool.”
