Thiên Ý

What is Thiên Ý Villas?

Thiên Ý Villas is a private estate of three independent villas within the Imperial Citadel of Huế — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It brings you close to imperial Huế in four ways: the location, inside the citadel walls; the architecture and art; a style of service drawn from the great Huế households; and the music, cuisine and cultural life around each stay.

What is Thiên Ý Lake?

Thiên Ý Lake is our small hotel at 29 Nguyễn Trãi, inside the Imperial Citadel, opening on 1 November 2026: fifteen rooms and suites above a quiet Citadel lake. Ground-floor rooms open onto the garden and have a stone bathtub; first-floor rooms have a balcony; the four suites under the roof have a copper bathtub.

Is Thiên Ý a hotel or private villas?

Both. Thiên Ý combines the services of a refined boutique hotel with the privacy of fully serviced villas — dedicated hospitality within your own secluded residence inside the Imperial Citadel.

How many guests can Thiên Ý accommodate?

Thiên Ý Villas — across the three villas, Flower House, Birds House and Beasts House — can accommodate up to 26 guests in ten rooms. Each villa can be booked independently or combined, including a full estate booking for exclusive use of the entire property. Thiên Ý Lake, opening 1 November 2026, offers 15 rooms and suites. Manor Thiên Ý, opening 2027, will have 25 rooms.

Villas or the Lake: which is for me?

The Villas suit families, friends and longer stays: a whole house with its own pool, garden and team, or a room within one. Thiên Ý Lake suits couples and shorter stays: a private room above the water, with breakfast and daily housekeeping, at a lighter price. Both are inside the Citadel walls, and both are looked after in the same spirit.

Is Thiên Ý's atmosphere right for everyone?

Perhaps not quite everyone — and we say this honestly, as a courtesy.

Thiên Ý draws deeply on the spiritual life of Huế. Cham-Hindu heritage, Buddhism, Christianity and the religion of ancestors are all present in the villas — in the architecture, the objects, the art. Those with a strong personal aversion to religious imagery of any tradition may not feel wholly at ease. The same applies to certain animalistic and mythological representations, which are vivid and intentional: those easily unsettled by such imagery may occasionally feel overwhelmed.

If any of this gives pause, the photographs of each villa speak plainly.

The Villas

How private is my villa at Thiên Ý?

Your villa is private, with its own pool and garden, screened by dense planting.

It sits in the Imperial Citadel's old aristocratic quarter. From the upper floor you can see across parts of the estate, where the villas and gardens form one architectural ensemble.

Our staff are always just a call away. If you prefer a more sociable moment, you are also welcome to visit the separate wooden staff house, next to a shared garden where guests from the other villas sometimes gather.

Which villa should I choose?

Each has a different atmosphere and artistic identity while offering the same attentive service and private facilities. The Beasts House is the most traditional — an authentic Huế wooden dwelling on a single level, opening directly onto its garden and pool. The Birds House is classical in plan, two floors and three bedrooms arranged around a central axis in the Huế manner. The Flower House is the grandest of the three: five bedrooms across three floors, its vast ground floor following the principle of the nhà sàn — a house that opens itself fully to the land around it. Many families and groups choose to reserve two or all three villas together.

Tell me about the pools.

Each villa has its own private 12-metre pool, salt-sanitised, heated and cooled on request, and safe for children. Guests booking both the Beasts House and the Birds House together gain access to a combined 25-metre swim lane — the two pools connect across the wooden bridge that separates them. Pool floats, toys, slides and towels are provided by your Quản Gia on request.

Is Thiên Ý Villas suitable for families?

Very much so. Private villas, enclosed gardens, child-friendly salt-sanitised pools, pool slides, board games, outdoor play and attentive staff make Thiên Ý particularly well suited to families. Inflatables for the pool can also be set up on request.

Can I book the entire estate?

Yes. A full estate booking gives exclusive access to all three villas, all pools, the gardens and the full Quản Gia team — ideal for family gatherings, celebrations or groups seeking complete privacy within the Citadel walls.

What is Music by the Bridge?

Guests reserving a villa for three nights or longer are invited to enjoy our signature Music by the Bridge. Traditional Huế musicians perform beside the wooden bridge in your private garden while an assortment of Bánh Huế and seasonal refreshments is served — one of Thiên Ý's most distinctive moments.

Thiên Ý Lake

Can I book Thiên Ý Lake before it opens?

Yes. Thiên Ý Lake is open for bookings now, for stays from 1 November 2026. Search any dates from that day on the booking page.

What is included at Thiên Ý Lake?

Breakfast and daily housekeeping are included. Your room is private; bathrooms are semi-open, with a separate toilet. Quiet hours run from 22:00 to 07:00.

Can children stay at Thiên Ý Lake?

Yes, children of all ages are welcome. Rooms are for two guests and the Mandarin Suite for four. There are no extra beds: one young child may share each existing bed, as in our villas; the conditions are shown when you book.

Service & cuisine

What is so specific about the service at Thiên Ý?

The central figure is the Quản Gia — a tradition of the great households of imperial Huế, where a senior woman of the house coordinated the domestic staff and ensured that guests wanted for nothing. At Thiên Ý, your Quản Gia and her team are close at hand: in the villa, around the pool, attentive to the rhythm of your day. She will often have thought of what you need before you ask. For outside requests — excursions, guides, transport — our concierge handles everything beyond the gate. The Quản Gia looks after the house; the concierge looks after the city.

What does the service actually cover?

Room care, turndown, pillow selection, pool preparation, extra towels and amenities, pool toys and floats, board games, evening lighting, fireplace preparation in selected villas, herbal foot baths, in-villa massage coordination — and anything else that would make your day more comfortable. All requests can be made through the dedicated concierge tablet in your villa or directly with your Quản Gia.

What about breakfast?

Breakfast at Thiên Ý is sur mesure. Vietnamese or Western, or a combination — the menu is agreed the evening before, and served wherever you wish: poolside, in your room, on the balcony, in the garden. Fresh, prepared to order, at the hour you choose.

What food and drink is available during the day?

The Central Region is the land of fruits and flowers, and we take its produce seriously. Throughout the day, your Quản Gia can arrange fresh fruit platters, salads, pool-side dishes and drinks — all made from top-quality local and seasonal ingredients, or imported for European preparations. Unusual Vietnamese specialities are also available for the curious: insects, fertilised eggs, regional fermented dishes. As in the great households of old, eating happens anywhere, at any hour. For lunch or dinner, a private chef can prepare a full menu in the villa, agreed in advance with guests.

The Citadel & practical

Is it better to stay within the Citadel rather than in the city centre?

For most guests, yes. The Imperial City, the royal temples and the Perfume River are a few minutes' walk away, but the neighbourhood itself is the bigger reason. People have lived inside these walls for two centuries: the lanes are quiet, the pace is slow, and the cafés and restaurants are full of locals. In the evening, music drifts from doorways. Street life that has almost disappeared from the rest of urban Vietnam survives here almost intact, and Thiên Ý is right in the middle of it.

Can you organise visits and excursions?

Certainly. The Imperial City and the royal tombs are not to be missed, but our concierge can also recommend excellent guides in your own language, arrange encounters or classes with local artists and craftsmen, organise excursions to tropical forests, lagoons or deserted beaches, and help with practical requests throughout your stay.

How secure is Thiên Ý?

Vietnam is one of the safest countries in Southeast Asia, and Huế is particularly peaceful and trouble-free.

For added peace of mind, Thiên Ý is fully gated, with staff on site at all times, including 24-hour security. Each villa is also equipped with a personal safe for your valuables.

Where exactly is Thiên Ý?

Thiên Ý Villas is at 20/Kiệt 31 Nguyễn Thiện Thuật, Phường Phú Xuân, inside the Imperial Citadel. Thiên Ý Lake — opening 1 November 2026 — is at 29 Nguyễn Trãi, Phường Phú Xuân, also within the Citadel walls.

How do I get there from the airport?

Phú Bài International Airport is approximately 25 minutes by car. We arrange transfers on request.

How do I book?

Directly via this website, WhatsApp, or Zalo, and also through selected booking platforms. Booking direct is the simplest way: direct guests receive the most attentive service and the full benefit of our concierge from the moment of enquiry.
